| The Mesa Del Mar story....Established in the early 60’s, Mesa Del Mar was built on the grounds and runways of the former Santa Ana Army Air Base (SAAAB). Originally marketed as the the new Park Series of Mesa Del Mar, over 850 homes were built in five different floor plans. Mesa Del Mar is nestled between Fairview and Newport Blvd and bordered by the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center. Mesa Del Mar is also home to Costa Mesa's premier parks and recreation facilities such as; TeWinkle Park, Costa Mesa Tennis Center, Costa Mesa Farm Fields, Costa Mesa (Volcom) Skate Park and Bark Park. Located 3.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean and .5 miles to South Coast Plaza, Mesa Del Mar is centrally located close to beaches, shopping, and freeways. As one of the city's original premier housing developments, the Mesa Del Mar theme is "Most Valued Home Location". The street names are based on famous explorers like; Drake, Junipero, Magellan and Coronado to name just a few. Mesa Del Mar is served by the Newport Mesa School District.
